Is that a pillow?

Grandma is here!

This is Rebby learning to feed Aleric. Those two are nearly inseparable now. Aleric seems to be taking well to all of the family visiting because he is becoming more and more alert now.

This is Rebby holding Aleric, who appears to be making a peace sign.

The Post Bath Fuzz-Head

We had an interesting experience today. It began as an unremarkable diaper change and quickly became something more. He was screaming, as is customary and he began to pee, also normal. What happened next made Holly and I laugh for about 5 minutes. I looked down just in time to see him begin to pee and I watched as the arc landed right in his open screaming mouth. Just imagine "WWWwwaaaaaahhhh.... Waaahhhhhaaaaa.... he? gulp, slurp, gulp cough... (I stop the stream with his diaper) ... Wwwaaahahaaaha..." You get the picture I believe. I immediately gave him a bath, which is where he got this nice hair doo.
He he is taking a nap on the couch, in his clean clothes. He is so cute!

Ah, Sweet Sleep

We have fallen to the temptation of the extra sleep allowed by letting Aleric sleep in our bed. I would say that he is just a bit spoiled.

We're so tired lately that if he is sleeping, I am sleeping. These are my favorite times. I think this one lasted about 45 minutes.

St. Patricks Day

Here he is in his green outfit from Grandpa Brandt, not that it stops little old ladies from wanting to pinch his chubby cheeks, but it at least keeps him safe from my friends.

It's a couch! It's a dad! It's a bed?!

We were all exhausted from the night before and apparently, blankets aren't necessary.

Baby Blues

Pensive

Skeptical
Awestruck

So far, these are the only faces that I have been able to capture. He did smile yesterday, just once and it was fleeting. I think it was a fluke, maybe his muscles are practicing but that didn't stop it from making me feel really happy. I will share the joy as soon as I catch one on camera.

Post Bath-Time Blues

"Eeexcellent"

Well, this is after Aleric's first bath. He still doesn't like them much. I guess he doesn't trust that slipper wet water very much. But as you can see in the before photo, he was in need of it.

The Next American Idol

This is Aleric in his first set of sun glasses singing for us. Hope you all enjoy.

It came from below

Today Aleric has been really fussy. We tried everything we could think of and we finally got him to go to sleep. About 2 hours later he woke up crying. I zooped him (a sort of dipping dance that he seems to love, maybe I'll throw a video up some time.) and he calmed down for a moment, but then started again with renewed fervor. I thought, "Alright, check the diaper" and there in front of me was what is quite possibly, although not without contest (speak to my dad), the worst diaper I have ever seen. Holly and I had to tag-team this one with my in front, eyes closed, breath held and holly issuing orders from a safe distance. Keep in mind this is the first time he made a diaper of this sort in about 4 days. This is him post diaper change. I dare not show photos from before or during the change, lest taint your mental image of him.

All about Aleric

This little guy was 8lbs 12oz at birth and 22 inches long. No one will ever be able to convince me that the birth of a child is not a miracle now. I have seen what is probably the most amazing event a man can ever see. The birth of his baby boy. He is "the most beautiful baby in the world"* according to one viewer. This little guy is strong and I'm still trying to come to grips with the fact that God has given me something so precious to care for.

Grandma came down today and got to hold Aleric, then, feeling adventurous we went out to lunch. He slept all the way through it all, even went and visited some of Holly's old work friends at the mall, I lugged him along in his carseat, I think I'll be using the stroller next time. That little guy gets heavy.

Grandpa also got to see the little guy and these pictures seem strangly familiar don't they? -Jeff
